Variations
Interactions
Scar and Alexa Woods use the Sledge for their escape from the exploding Pyramid and pursuing Aliens as Scar set his Wrist Communicator on self-destruct.
Deployment
Sledges are available in the following;
Deployed in the tunnel at the Whaling Station which connected
to the underground Pyramid. A Sledge was then used once connected
to bring supplies back and forth moving lighting equipment and weapons.
Continuity
Because the tunnel was only part built (10-20" long) and a set, filming occurred in separate scenes on set for the descent and sledge. In the film the sledge was shown as being powered by a winch and electrically controlled, on set the sledge was fully practical and all scenes in the tunnel filmed on set or CGI.
On-set
Use of the tunnel on set involved the crew appearing and throwing a flare along the tunnel on the fully built set in Prague. Filmed from above and below, the sledge was then filmed on set moving equipment and supplies.
Post Production
Some scenes were produced in CGI, this included the final escape as Scar and Alexa escape the aliens and the explosion. Produced completely in CGI as they ascend and escape the explosion which consumes the aliens, pyramid and a large part of the Whaling Station, in itself made from miniatures.
