Shuriken

Name

Shurikens are part of a Predator's armoury.

Description

A disc like throwing weapon which is used in combat attack by Predators. A circular array of hardened blades sit within a central casing, these are retracted into the casing when not in use and ejected just before being thrown, this allows for a compact and effective weapon used in combat.

Constructed of poly-synthetic alloy, an array of specially hardened sharp sickle like blades protrude from a circular central casing, these are retracted into the casing when not in use and ejected before use.

Used in combat situations, a fire and return weapon which can be used multiple times, it is a useful combat attack weapon and a choice for Predators.

A Shuriken is a multi-bladed 'Krull' Glaive, the Shurikens in the Aliens v Predator (game) and Aliens v Predator (film) have retractable Glaive blades, that retract in to a central disc covering.<

They are used by the Predator in the game Aliens v Predator Requiem and are similiar to to the Shuriken in the film Alien v Predator, and comparable to the Shuriken used in the film Krull.

Smart Discs from the film Aliens v Predator: Requiem have blades that expand when thrown.

Concept

Paul W. S. Anderson choose a new design for the Shurikens, choosing to give them the feel that they were more dangerous so included the six bladed designed discs. These would activate when they were about to be thrown expanding their blades and then retracting their blades when caught after throwing.

Post Production

The blades transitions between the retracted units and the expanded units were preformed in post production by CGI and included them being thrown and returned.
