Description
M-90 Miniguns are used by U.S.C.M.'s and mercenaries on LV426 and LV1201 and M134 Miniguns are used by Nikolai on the Game Reserve and Blain on Earth.
A minigun is a rapid fire, air-cooled, multiple barrel firearm capable of firing upwards of 3000 rounds per minute (RPM). It is carried in combat and tactical situations for heavy fire support.
Construction
Made from alloy, in either a 3 or 6 barrel configuration, reload is by way of a 500/900 round clip which fits to the under side of the weapon.
Tactical Uses
The rate of fire for the minigun means it will be a weapon chosen in combat for either heavy fire support or tactical fire and suppression.

Continuity
Concept
Referred to on set as Old Painless or Ol' Painless a minigun had been used to give the team the edge and was designed so could be carried and fired by a single man and not just used once or twice in the film.
On-set
A chaingun that was formally mounted from a chopper which was adjusted so a man could carry it including a backpack full of ammo. Off shot the gun had been linked into batteries by six cables which powered it, rotating the barrels and supplying the ammo feed.
