Huey, is a UH-1 model helicopter.

Description

Hueys went into production in March 1960, the UH-1 was the first a turbine version of the early turboshaft, which entered production for the United States military. The first combat operation of the UH-1 was in the service of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. The original designation of HU-1 led to the helicopter's nickname of Huey. In September 1962, the designation was changed to UH-1, but Huey remained in common use.

Construction

On-set

Like the Piper Maru that the assembled team reached the Whaling Station in Bouvetøya, the grey Agusta 109 was constructed purely as a model miniature and filmed in a water tank along with the ice breaker. John Burno visual effects supervisor constructed all miniatures on set for the satellite, icebreaker, chopper, pyramid and all the buildings around the Razorback Whaling Station. The Agusta 109's model stood about 3' tall by 8' long and was painted white so post production colours and effects could be added.
