The Capella is approaching Earth at the beginning of the game Aliens Armageddon and due to unknown circumstances is set on self destruct, exploding before it reaches the atmosphere.

Continuity

From the in game story it is assumed that the contingent of troops departed the Capella making it to the surface of the already destroyed surface. The destruction of the spacecraft left the troops with only one way off the surface and that spacecraft, was the Ark, a large Titan like rocket set for launch about the ruins of the city. The Ark is found in chapter four.
